You might be wondering…

It’s been a year. An entire year. My life had many highs and quite a few lows, but overall 2016 was great to me. If you have been following my Instagram account (@outfitaday365) you’ve seen some of my awesome outfits throughout the year.

So, to quickly fill everyone in on all amazing things that have been happening {and causing my extended absence from blogging}, I have compiled a list of outfits. Below are my “Top 15” favorites from 2016.

I’m Back… Promise!

Hello all my lovely followers! Sorry for the slight hiatus, I promise I have a good excuse. If you have been following my Instagram, you’ll have noticed I was making waves in the community.

From July through late September I was planning, preparing, and directing Style on the Plaza– an annual fashion show that showcases local businesses and highlights the community’s unique style. This was my first, of hopefully many, shows that I directed. I have been in a whirlwind of excitement and stress as the last several months have been strictly focused on planning this event. There was barely time to stop for food and sleep. But, in the end, it was COMPLETELY worth it.

My new addiction: midi skirts

Even after repeating “I am only here to pick up a birthday gift, I will not buy anything for myself” several thousand times, I still managed to walk out of the mall with two beautiful midi skirts.

Drifting through the mall, my eyes slowly locked onto a gorgeous black midi skirt within a boutique, Posh Love. Lucky for me it was my size and the LAST one! Before checking out, another midi skirt caught my eye. I just couldn’t stop! Two midi skirts later…

Patterned dresses: The only geometry I need to know

I was never one for math. I understood the lessons and usually got a decent grade on tests, however, it never tickled my fancy. Nevertheless, when I see complex, geometric patterns on a dress I get more excited than a mathematician solving an impossible quadratic equation. I love pieces of clothing that have stimulation and buzz. Flashy shapes, colors, and textures attract me like Einstein to a mass-energy formula.

Thank you, Mom, for helping me find my fashion identity

Mothers are the earliest influencers of fashion. From the ugly, bear patterned onesie adorned in infancy, to the wedding dress worn down the aisle.I can’t thank my mother enough for helping me find my fashion identity, and realizing I don’t need a label to define me.

Parading me through Macy’s (once a Hudson’s and then Marshall Field’s) at a young age was always my favorite bonding time. We would admire the clothes and try on beautiful shoes all while gossiping about work, school, and everything in-between. It was a free space to relax and escape the day, occasionally with a new shirt or pants.

Dressing up denim

What do neon yellow, geometric patterns, and denim have in common? They make for a fantastic outfit! Denim shirts are a staple for every closet. I personally own four, all of varying shades; ranging from dark wash with studs, to pale and lightweight.

For this particular outfit I used my medium washed Else denim button up and added a RACHEL Rachel Roy geometric skirt, both from Macy’s clearance last summer. The skirt is made of a thicker, sweater material, giving the outfit a relaxed feeling. You can always tell when a woman feels relaxed and comfortable in an outfit, it shines through.

Birthday Treat For My Feet

Today is my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to a new pair of shoes. A group of friends and I are heading to a local winery, Four Daughters, for a relaxed evening of good laughs, mouth-watering food, and amazing wine. It was obvious that a new pair of shoes was necessary.

I have been mourning over the price of the Valentino ‘Rockstud’ Pumps for months, disappointed they would never be attached to my feet. However, after late night browsing online, I stumbled upon a pair of similar heels from LuLu‘s. Their price was perfect for a small budget like mine, and they looked practically identical! I ALMOST prefer the LuLu’s pair over the Valentino because of the heel height. The higher the heel the better, as I always say.
