Holiday gatherings are filled with family, love, and food- lots and LOTS of food! Here’s the dilemma: you want to look cute AND comfortable when feasting on Grandma’s turkey. And you not have to sacrifice one for the other. What you wear can be just as important as what you are piling upon your plate.
Here are a three things to NEVER wear on Thanksgiving (or any other family gathering) so you won’t regret your outfit three slices into apple pie or miss out on an impromptu game of flag football.
Every woman has heard it- high heels are nothing but trouble. Deformed feet, back pain, and shortened calve muscles to name a few problems instigated by them.
But, as a 20-something woman I would gladly choose a day of aching feet and lower back pain to wear the beautiful stilettos and wedges gracing my closet. There is a sense of allure and excitement felt when you slip on pair of sky-high heels, ready to face the world.
There has been one piece of clothing I’ve been dying to add to my closet; a light-medium wash, 3/4 sleeve denim dress. I have a particular design in my head and a small budget to support it.
The denim dress is a HOT trend right now. Not to mention, it’s versatile and easy, making the perfect addition to my wardrobe. This piece of clothing can be worn relaxed with flats and a scarf to brunch, then dressed up with heels and a sequined clutch to the bar in the evening.
So, here is what my countless hours of online searching have produced:
What do neon yellow, geometric patterns, and denim have in common? They make for a fantastic outfit! Denim shirts are a staple for every closet. I personally own four, all of varying shades; ranging from dark wash with studs, to pale and lightweight.
For this particular outfit I used my medium washed Else denim button up and added a RACHEL Rachel Roy geometric skirt, both from Macy’s clearance last summer. The skirt is made of a thicker, sweater material, giving the outfit a relaxed feeling. You can always tell when a woman feels relaxed and comfortable in an outfit, it shines through.
Today is my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to a new pair of shoes. A group of friends and I are heading to a local winery, Four Daughters, for a relaxed evening of good laughs, mouth-watering food, and amazing wine. It was obvious that a new pair of shoes was necessary.
I have been mourning over the price of the Valentino ‘Rockstud’ Pumps for months, disappointed they would never be attached to my feet. However, after late night browsing online, I stumbled upon a pair of similar heels from LuLu‘s. Their price was perfect for a small budget like mine, and they looked practically identical! I ALMOST prefer the LuLu’s pair over the Valentino because of the heel height. The higher the heel the better, as I always say.
The other day while wearing this particular outfit around town, I had several individuals ask me, “Where are you going all dressed up?”
Zipping up my geometric, cupcake-shaped dress and slipping on my neon heels I knew it was going to be an amazing girls night out! There is something so exciting getting dressed up and snazzy with your girlfriends.
I stuffed my vintage clutch with miscellaneous shades of lipstick, grabbed my Betsey Johnson bow earrings, and ran out the door elated for the Friday night ahead.
